Vicki and Cecelia

The Hawaii Waiver Providers Association (HWPA) has provided leadership in improving our DD/MR system as well as in supporting the agencies that support persons with DD/MR.

Members share agency concerns and seek ways to resolve issues that are common to providers. HWPA holds quarterly conferences to offer its members an opportunity to network, to learn about the latest news from the State Department of Health's Developmental Disabilities Division, to get briefed on legislative issues, and to learn about subjects or tools that can help members improve their business. Speakers have ranged from employment law attorneys to billing specialists to resources from the University of Hawaii.

In addition, HWPA provides regular seminars to cover certain aspects of business that all providers will find useful. Seminars will include local and national experts in the field of disabilities and business.

As an HCBS contracted provider, you could become a member of the HWPA. As a member you will be invited to Quarterly Conferences, Annual Seminars and other special events. You will have access to the members-only portion of the HWPA website where we will share valuable information and resources to assist you in serving your participants. Members may participate on the members-only email listserve where you can share information or pose questions to other members. Members receive the latest information about changes to funding, rates, contracts, policies and practices (of the State). As a member you will have access to an organization that works closely with the State in improving the HCBS program. And, as a member you'll have an opportunity to network with other members many of whom have been involved in this field for over 10 years. Best of all, as a member, you'll get all this without interrupting your routine and negatively affecting your time working on your business.

What does it take? For new members it's as inexpensive as $100 for the first year (dues are based on calendar year). If you are interested in joining please fill out the electronic form and send a $100 check payable to HWPA, c/o SECOH 708 Palekaua Street, Honolulu, HI 96816.
